Ambon CAART van het EYLAND AMBOINA in’t bijfonder.

A black and white early 18th century map of the island of Ambon in the Moluccas with an inset plan of Casteel Victoria by Francois Valentyn from his eight-volume history of the East Indies entitled Oud en Nieuw Oost-Indien that was published in Amsterdam by Gerard Onder de Linden and the bookseller Joannes van Bram between 1724 and 1726. The work contained numerous charts of the major islands and some of the smaller islands including this one of Ambon which was the major centre in the 17th century for the Moluccan spice trade.

Excellent condition; measures 313 x 415 mm.
