Product Description

Light turquoise blue glazed faience Ushabti figure dating to the 22nd dynasty.  Has black painted hieroglyphics with the name of a priest of KHONSU written on it. He wears on his back a black painted tassel suspending.

Height 11 cm + 3 cm stand

Part of the private collection of New York City art dealer Susette Khayat, the daughter of archaeologist Azeez Khayat. Before the outbreak of WWII and any Egyptian artifact export bans, Khayat carried out extensive excavations in Egypt and many of his finds were purchased by American Museums including the New York Metropolitan and the Los Angeles County Art Museum. The items not wanted by museums were offered for sale.
