Greek Red Figure squat Lekythos produced in the Greek influenced Camparia, Italy region about 350 BC.  Lekythoi usually contained oil  with a narrow neck and a small single handle allowing accurate pouring  of small amounts.

This vessel is decorated with  a Hippocamp between two scrolls with border underneath reminiscent of an underwater scene.  the Hippocamp is the mythological horse of Poseidon the God of the Sea with the upper body of a horse and the lower body of a fish. Thin red lines decorate the lower part of the vessel neck.

Height 9 cm with 7 cm

Condition: Intact and in very good condition
