Antique World Map by Picquet (c.1795)

Antique World Map by Picquet titled ‘Mappe-monde ou description du Globe Terrestre avec les nouvelles decouvertes’. Copper engraved double hemisphere map. Alaska is nearly the correct shape. Tasmania is still shown attached to the mainland of Australia. Nicely engraved with a sunburst and cloud at top.

Engraved by P.J. Picquet. Authors: J. Lattre and C.F. Delamarche. Jean Lattre was an 18th. c. French Royal engraver, editor and merchant.

Condition: Good, please study image carefully.
