Description: Antique print, titled: ‘Borneo Insula.’ – A small early 18th century map of Borneo Island, Indonesia. With compass rose and scale. ‘Recueil des Voyages …. Des Indes Orientales, Formee dans les Provinces Unies des Pais-Bas’ (7 volumes) published in Amsterdam between 1702 and 1706. This map is from Volume 2 of the Voyages and is copied from the much earlier version of the map originally published by Theodore de Bry in 1613.
Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Rene Augustin Constantin de Renneville’ after an anonymous artist. Rene Augustin Constantin de Renneville (1650-1723) a French writer who edited translated Issac Commelin’s Dutch travel accounts.
