Description: Antique map, titled: ‘La Terre Connue lorsque L’Evangelie fut publie.’ – Scarce map illustrating those parts of the world that were known in ancient times. This early version of this map by Bernard Lamy shows besides the inset of a double hemisphere world 2 other insets; one of the Paradise and one of the travels of the Children of Israel.The map covers all of Europe, Northern Africa and Central Asia. The ancient regions and cities are named and large rivers and lakes are noted as well as other details. The right upper inset shows California as an island.
