A rare early to mid 18th century black and white plan of Batavia drawn by Johann Wolfgang Heydt, a German draughtsman and engraver born in Indonesia, engraved by A.(Andreas) Hoffer of Nuernberg and published in Allerneuster Geographisch und Topographische Schau-Platz von Africa und Oost-Indien… in 1744.

Artists and Engravers: Johann Wolfgang Heydt (1705 – ?), a German artist who worked for the Dutch East India company.

  • Condition: Very good condition, apart from two small vertical tears along the bottom edge repaired with archival tape, small rust hole in the upper margin
