Description: Antique print titled ‘Vue du Fort Hollandais’. Lithograph of a Dutch fortress in Manado Bay. It shows various ships, including a rowing boat of Europeans under the Dutch flag, in Manado Bay in the Dutch East Indies. The Dutch East India Company built a fortress in Manado in 1658, seen in the background. Manado is now the capital of the North Sulawesi province of Indonesia. This print originates from ‘Voyage de la Corvette l’Astrolabe’, the account of Jules Dumont D’Urville’s important expedition to the South Seas between 1826 and 1829.
